We #HiredMcGuire. What is next?
It’s been a little over two weeks since Texas Tech hired Joey McGuire to be the next head football coach. This is an exciting hire for Tech and the fanbase finally seems to be uniting around this program for the first time in over a decade. This guy has done quite a bit for morale around the football program, and he hasn’t been here for a month. This is what I believe is next for Red Raider Football and why I think the fanbase should be excited for what is to come.
Joey McGuire opened his first press conference with an emphatic “Raider Power” chant. This is something right off the bat that makes me believe we have a guy who wants to be in Lubbock and be ingrained in all things Texas Tech. That is exciting for a fanbase who needs someone to unify around, and who better than someone who is going to embrace and embolden our culture and traditions. I was ready to run through a brick wall after that presser. On top of that, he has already strengthened Texas Tech’s recruiting class from last in the Big Twelve for 2022 to 7th and he did that with two commits. He has since then received four more great commits, so the future looks extremely bright in terms of recruiting.
I believe that if McGuire can get the right guys on his staff, the wins will come sooner rather than later. With some great coordinators and McGuire’s recruiting prowess, I believe this program could be one of the top programs in the Big Twelve, especially with the new realignments coming. Red Raider fans should be excited for the future of Red Raider football. I believe we finally got the right guy.
