(NICK THOMSON 04/07/21) Ok, before you jump ship and totally write us off, please hear me out. We actually need to be thanking Chris Beard for the events of the past few weeks. Through the poor and mismanaged way in which he left the Texas Tech Men’s Basketball program, he has not only brought our fan base and administration together as one but has set the entire Texas Tech and West Texas community on fire for our future.
The way in which the sometimes-divided Red Raider Nation has banded together in this time of utter betrayal has been commendable. Our community has come together this week, and it has made us extremely optimistic for the future of Tech Athletics. Yesterday’s introductory press conference for Coach Mark Adams was such an encouragement!
“We’re not going anywhere but forward!”- Kirby Hocutt
In the high-spirited introductory presser that turned into a tailgate and had a game day feel to it, we heard from President Schovanec, our AD Kirby Hocutt, and the now head men’s basketball coach, Mark Adams. The united front that was shown gave us the sense of stability and confidence we needed to really get behind this team and ultimately the Texas Tech athletics program as a whole. I mean, when was the last time you saw an introductory presser with the head coaches from five or six other sports programs in attendance? Coach Wells, Kittley, Whitehead, Sands, Stone, and AD Emeritus, Coach Gerald Myers were all in attendance. Where else do you see that kind of support and backing across the board? Not only that, but the student-athletes were there, Raider Riot was in attendance, the Air Raiders, the Womble family, and many many others came to support our new leader. Kirby noted that even the United Supermarkets president asked him what they could do to support Texas Tech moving forward. All Kirby asked us to do, as a fan base, is to BURN THE BOATS.
We are looking forward to the future and we have the right man in place to do it. A man who is looking to continue to build and progress towards becoming the best basketball program in the nation. The Raider Power chants were raining down on new head coach Mark Adams. He said it was the best day of his life! He is a proud Texas Tech alumnus. His dream job is to be in the position he is in now. He will not let us down. He will not relent. He’s the right man for the job and he is West Texas strong! We all are West Texas strong! We are finally united in our true Red Raider fashion, and it’s all thanks to the turn coat, Chris Beard. Good riddance and thanks for bringing us back together!
WRECK ‘EM TECH!
