NICK THOMSON- In this first edition of our attempt in blogging for you guys, I thought it might be a good idea to speak on one of our favorite Matador Motivationals, ‘Having a Gardener’s Mentality’. If you’re one for nostalgia, you can hear the original version of this all the way back in our 4th podcast episode, but let me warn you, after just releasing our 43rd episode, you can tell we have come a long way on the mics.
However, that does flow perfectly into this motivational about having a Gardener’s mentality. Quite like a budding flower, things in life simply take time to develop. A seed planted in your garden is not going to sprout the second you water it. Beneath the surface, it takes time to grow and develop. A gardener knows this going into it, and is not going to expect immediate growth. You have got to take this same mentality into your life. Be patient, have faith, and trust the process.
If you think about it, time is most definitely our greatest commodity. The most successful person on Earth has the same 24 hours in a day as you do. The question is, how are you going to spend that time? How are you going to improve and grow daily, to one day look back at time well spent, and see the fruits of your hard work? The fact of the matter is, you have two choices when you wake up each morning. You can build upon the previous day, work hard, and get one step closer to your goals, or you can sit back passively and let time pass you by.
But that is only part of it. Working hard is one thing, but to continue with the thought of a gardener’s mentality, you cannot expect instant success. There’s is a lot of uncertainty in life. Maybe you haven’t gotten that promotion yet. Maybe your weight isn’t where you’d like it to be. Maybe you haven’t gotten to your goal of podcast downloads. My best and simplest advice is to keep on going. Keep your head down and continuously be committed to the process. You have to tend to your garden. You have to try, and work daily in life to get to the point of harvest and reap the benefits of the seeds you sow. If you’re going about your days with patience, faith, and trusting in the process, then you will find that peace will be with you. In addition, you will find that one day, when you least expect it, those seeds will have been nurtured, and they will begin to grow into the garden that you knew they could be.
You can believe me that if you’re going about your life with patience, having faith, and trusting in the process, you will one day see the fruits of your labor. Sit back and enjoy the ride. Actually, don’t sit back, but still enjoy the ride. Have a Gardner’s Mentality.
